Aflo is an AI practice and scoring tool for English tests, operated by Aflo Technologies Inc. (“Aflo”, “we”, “us”), a company incorporated in Delaware, United States. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address, and a securely stored password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile (name and email) — we never see your Google password.
Your practice content
To score your work and show you feedback, the speaking and writing answers you submit — including audio recordings of your speaking responses — are sent to our servers. We transcribe your audio, assess your answer, and save the result (your transcript, scores and feedback) to your history so you can track your progress.
Usage information
We record which tasks you practise, your scores, and how many AI scores you have used (so we can apply free and paid limits fairly).
Payment information
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status (e.g. active or cancelled), but we never see or store your full card number.
Technical information
For security and abuse prevention, we process basic technical data such as your IP address and device/browser type, and keep limited request logs.
How we use your information
- To transcribe, score and give feedback on your answers, and to show your progress over time.
- To run your account, apply your plan’s limits, and process subscriptions.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To respond to you and send essential account or service messages.
How your answers are processed by AI
Your answers are processed by automated systems to produce a score and feedback: your audio is transcribed by our own speech-recognition service, and your text is sent to a third-party AI model provider that generates the score and written feedback on our behalf. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not permit your answers to be used to train third-party models.
Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Aflo, and only so they can perform that service for us:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and our application database.
- Our cloud infrastructure providers — for sign-in and speech processing.
- AI model providers — to generate scores and feedback from your answers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of Aflo and its users.
Data retention
We keep your account information while your account is active. Your practice history is retained so you can review your progress (older attempts may be pruned automatically). You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time. To make a request, email us at [email protected] — we may need to verify your identity first, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, and the rights to access, correct, and delete it. Residents of other US states, and of regions with laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, may have similar rights. We honor these requests as the applicable law requires.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in and to store your settings and progress. We use only the cookies needed to run the service and keep it secure. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Children
Aflo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
International processing
Aflo is operated from the United States, and your data may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. If you access Aflo from outside the United States, you understand your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We take steps to ensure your data is protected wherever it is processed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above, and significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
